PREVIEW: Soccer Wraps Regular Season Against West Virginia

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team faces West Virginia for Senior Night in the season finale at 7 p.m., Friday at Carl Lewis International Complex.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the senior ceremony, as 10 seniors will be honored beginning at 6:30 p.m. Alexis Fowlkes, Jocelyn Alonzo, Juliet Moore, Alex Whitcraft, Bri Hilsenteger, Anna Reysa, Jordan Johnson, Sofia Weber, Kate Burgess and Ramsey Davis will be recognized for their achievements on and off the pitch.

The match will be streamed on ESPN+ with Matt Pedersen (pxp), Alex Parra (analyst) and Vicente Garcia (sideline) on the call. Live stats for Friday's match are available here.

LAST TIME OUT
Houston (4-11-1, 1-9 Big 12) dropped a 3-0 decision to BYU on Monday in Provo, Utah.
Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manning tallied a career-high 13 stops on the night to bring her total to 44 saves so far this season.

The Mountaineers are 11-4-2 on the season and 7-2-1 in Big 12 play.
West Virginia is No. 25 in the latest RPI ranking.
Ajanae Respass leads the Mountaineers with six goals and Lillyn McCarthy leads with five assists on the season.
In its last match, West Virginia defeated Colorado, 2-0, in Morgantown, W. Va (Oct. 20). Lisa Schöppl and Aria Bilal were the two goalscorers against the Buffaloes.

HISTORY WEST VIRGINIA

Friday's match marks the second meeting between Houston and West Virginia.
Houston leads the all-time series, 1-0.
The Cougars won the first meeting against the Mountaineers, 2-1 at the Carl Lewis International Complex (Oct. 1, 2023). Senior Alexis Fowlkes scored the first goal to give the Cougars the 1-0 lead. West Virginia's Taylor White quickly followed to level the match, before senior Sofia Weber scored the game winner in the 33rd minute to give Houston its first Big 12 victory in school history.
