Soccer Falls to West Virginia on Senior Night

Cougars close season with 4-1 loss to Mountaineers
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team closed its 2024 campaign with a 4-1 loss to West Virginia on Friday evening at the Carl Lewis International Complex.
Before tonight's match, Houston honored its ten seniors - Ramsey Davis, Alexis Fowlkes, Jocelyn Alonzo, Juliet Moore, Alex Whitcraft, Bri Hilsenteger, Anna Reysa, Jordan Johnson and Sofia Weber - for their contributions to the program.
West Virginia (12-4-2, 8-2-1 Big 12) scored in the 20th minute when Ajanae Redpass headed in a shot from Olivia Shertzer.
The Mountaineers quickly added to the lead with two goals in the 55th minute, both by Taylor White.
Houston (4-12-1, 1-10 Big 12) would get one back when senior midfielder Jordan Johnson found junior forward Cameryn Maddox in the 65th minute for her second goal of the season.
West Virginia responded with its fourth goal of the evening in the 89th minute as Abbey Olexa shot one past freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manning.
