
Houston Beats Prairie View A&M

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis Team won both matches in the doubleheader against Prairie View A&M, Sunday, to seal an undefeated record at home this spring season.
FIRST MATCH
Lauren Alter and Alison Mills started off doubles with a 6-2 win over Shaddae Findley and Tatiana Ruhl. They improve to 13-3 on the season when playing doubles together.
Tsveta Dimitrova and Ana Glumac sealed the doubles point for the Cougars with a 6-1 victory over Neharika Rama and Constanza Aranguiz. They picked up their third win this spring season.
As the doubles point was being clinched, Constandena Nicolaou and Laura Bernardos won their match shortly after in a score of 6-1 over Jimena Castellanos and Stacy Lackey. This was their second time playing together this year, and they picked up their first win.
The Cougars rode their momentum into singles, and won three straight matches to clinch the victory 4-0 over Prairie View A&M.
Dimitrova started off singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Stacy Lackey. She improves to 16-4 on the season.
Mazzari quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Neharika Rama. She leads the team in singles with a 17-1 record. This victory put the Cougars up 3-0 over the Panthers.
Bernardos secured the Cougars sweep without dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win against Timara Maxwell. This was her third match in singles this season, and she has yet to lose with a 3-0 record.
As the Cougars clinched the match, there were three matches in progress. Alter led Jimena Castellanos 6-2, 3-2. Mills was a game away from winning, as she led Constanza Aranguiz 6-1, 5-0. Finally, Glumac was leading Shaddae Findley 6-4, 4-0.
SECOND MATCH
Houston wasted no time getting off to a hot start again in doubles. Dimitrova and Mazzari didn't drop a game in a 6-0 win over Tatiana Ruhl and Shaddae Findley. They finish the regular season with an impressive 13-2 doubles record.
Glumac and Nicolaou clinched the doubles point for the Cougars with a 6-2 win over Neharika Rama and Jimena Castellanos. They conclude the regular season with an 8-2 record when playing together.
Mills and Bernardos' match went unfinished, when they were trailing Timara Maxwell and Stacy Lackey 4-3.
Dimitrova was the first singles match to finish once again with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Neharika Rama. She concludes singles play in the regular season with a 17-4 record.
Mills won her singles match 6-0, 6-3 against Jimena Castellanos. She finishes the season with an 8-8 singles record. The Cougars led 3-0 following this match.
Mazzari clinched the 4-0 match win for the Cougars as she took down Stacy Lackey 6-2, 6-2. Mazzari finishes with the best singles record on the team with an outstanding 18-1 mark.
Nicolaou's match went unfinished while she was leading 6-2, 2-2 over Timara Maxwell. Bernardos was leading Tatiana Ruhl 6-2, 4-2, and Glumac was in front of Jessica Lackey 6-1, 3-2.
The Cougars finished the season 19-3 overall and undefeated at home, with a 14-0 record, matching the best mark at home since the 2006 season.

The Cougars head to Dallas to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship across April 18-20.
