Houston Clinches Series Win at No. 7 ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Highlighted by errorless baseball and a dominant pitching effort from Aaron Fletcher and Joey Pulido, Houston Baseball clinched the series win at No. 7 ECU with a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 27-16 overall and 12-5 in American play, while ECU fell to 30-11 and 8-6 in league action.
HOUSTON HITS
- Houston captured its eighth weekend series win and fourth in conference play.
- The Cougars notched their first series win in Greenville, N.C. since 2010.
- Connor Hollis singled to drive in a run in the ninth to extend his on-base streak to 16 games.
- Tyler Bielamowicz walked in the second inning to extend his on-base streak to 16 games.
- Grayson Padgett singled in the second to extend his on-base streak to 13 straight games.
- Aaron Fletcher allowed just one run over 7.1 innings for his fifth win of the year.
- Joey Pulido picked up his first save of 2018 with 1.2 shutout innings.

Houston out hit ECU for the second straight game, 9-8. The Cougars were led by Connor Hollis with an RBI-single and Grayson Padgett, who had a two-hit day with a run scored. Wendell Champion II added an RBI on a squeeze but and Tyler Bielamowicz and Cooper Coldiron each scored a run.

Houston starter Aaron Fletcher tossed 7.1 innings, allowing just one run on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts to improve to 5-2 on the year.
Senior Joey Pulido tossed 1.2 shutout innings in relief, surrendering just one hit for his first save of the year.
KEY INNINGS
2nd | Houston jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second after Tyler Bielamowicz and Grayson Padgett led off the inning with a walk and single, respectively. Bielamowicz came around to score following two sac bunts by Cooper Coldiron and an RBI-one by Wendell Champion II. Padgett then scored on a wild pitch for the game's second run.
7th | ECU opened the seventh with a lead off home run to trim Houston's lead to 2-1.
8th | ECU had a chance to do some damage in the eighth, but Tyler Biealamowicz gunned down a runner attempting to take third for one out and then gunned down the runner trying to score on a sac fly -- potentially tying the game, but kept Houston on top, 2-1 through eight.
9th | Houston put up a big insurance run in the ninth when senior Cooper Coldiron singled and scored on a two-out RBI-single by fellow senior Connor Hollis.
