Tina Rupert Named American Player OTW

PROVIDENCE, R.I. --Houston Cougar Women's Tennis junior Tina Rupert has been named The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her performances against No. 29 Tulsa and North Texas last weekend, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Rupert claimed the award after picking up two singles wins and a doubles victory including a win against the American Conference's top rated team in the nation, Tulsa. Rupert opened the weekend by teaming with Mina Markovic in doubles play and defeated Rongrong Leenabanchong and Martha Matoula 6-3. In singles play against the Golden Hurricane, Rupert would go on to defeat Marcelina Cichon 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.
The following day, Rupert would again find success, this time against North Texas' Agustina Valenzuela on the singles court. Rupert wasted no time defeating Valenzuela in straight sets 6-0, 6-4 to pick up her seventh dual win of the season.
The award marks the second time in her career that Rupert has earned American Player of the Week honors, having previously done so on April 7, 2015. For the Cougars, the award is their third of the season after Despoina Vogasari claimed the award twice, once on March 8, and again the following week on March 15.
UP NEXT FOR HOUSTON
The regular season has come to an end, and the Cougars are preparing for the American Conference Championships. The championship tournament will be held, Wednesday, Feb. 20 and will run through the championship match on Saturday, April 23.

Revenue generated from the Center Court Club is used at the discretion of the Head Coach for program enhancements. Membership in the Center Court Club is annual and requires a minimum $100 gift.

For a minimum gift of $500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation and a stadium blanket.
US OPEN
For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
