Dimitrova posted a 3-0 singles record at the Rice Invitational en route to winning her flight championship and earning the conference laurels. Barnickel owns a 7-2 record in the fall including three wins at the Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational in September.
Dimitrova will team with junior Sveva Mazzari in doubles for the second time this season at the SMU Invite. The duo found success on the opening weekend of the season, compiling a 2-1 record while advancing to the flight finals where they were edged out 7-5 by Durkin/Ho from Rice. The pair will meet Macie Elliot and Ellie Zogg from SMU. The Mustang team will be competing together for the first time this season.
All three Cougars advanced to the flight finals of singles competition, including Mazzari who posted a 2-0 mark at Rice. Mazzari came from behind in the first round with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over Ema Barkovic from Sam Houston, before beating Kylee Kato of UTSA in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. She led over Louise Trigona in the flight finals before the match was halted due to weather. Mazzari will face Domonique Garley from Gonzaga who will make her season debut at the invite.
Junior Ana Glumac also led in her flight championship at the Rice Invitational before weather played a factor in the result. Glumac breezed to a first round victory 6-0, 6-1 over Carrie Casey from SHSU before battling to a 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 victory over Sonja Radosevic of Denver to advance to the final match.
