Vogasari Takes NIIC Opener

FLUSHING, N.Y. â€" University of Houston Tennis junior Despoina Vogasari was victorious Thursday in her first match at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. Vogasari defeated Alejandra Cisneros of Armstrong Atlantic State, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Vogasari won the first set, 6-3, before dropping the second set by the same score. But the Athens, Greece, native buckled down and survived a late rally to win the final stanza, also 6-3.
With the win, Vogasari is now 10-2 on the season and 2-1 all-time at the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. This is her second consecutive appearance in the tournament's Round of 16.

For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
