Vogasari Heads to NYC for National Indoors

HOUSTON - University of Houston Women's Tennis junior Despoina Vogasari heads to the Big Apple this week for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. The exclusive national championship runs Nov. 12-15 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

Vogasari received an at-large bid to the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 2 after finishing as runner-up at the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championships. The Athens, Greece, native is 9-2 on the season and enters the tournament listed 42nd in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national singles rankings.

This is Vogasari's second career appearance at National Indoors after she earned an automatic bid to the 2014 tournament. Last season, she won her Round of 32 match, 6-1, 6-1, over No. 15 Zoe Scandalis of USC. One round later, Vogasari fell to No. 43 Maegan Manasse of Cal, 6-4, 6-4.
The junior sports a career 4-5 record in five appearances at national championship events. The 2015 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year is 3-3 all-time in three runs at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, 1-1 at National Indoors and 0-1 at the NCAA Division I Singles Championship.

For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
