Houston Undefeated On First Day Of Solinco Houston Open

Sept. 19, 2014 Houston - Junior Rocio Martin and freshman Angela Lorenzo combined to spark a strong start for the Cougars at the Solinco Houston Open.
The two Spaniards began with a scintillating display in doubles play, defeating the St. Edward's duo of Rafaela Hegele and Ivana Zecevic by a score of 8-3.
Lorenzo also picked up a victory in the singles draw as she won against Vanessa Camara of St. Edward's, 6-3, 6-1.
Both senior Charlotte Phillips and Rocio Martin were unable to complete their 1st round singles matches, as both were stopped due to inclement weather.
Saturday's play will start by resuming the stopped matches, and the completion of Friday's round of singles play. After completion, the originally noted doubles and singles play for Saturday will commence as scheduled.
Match Notes: - With her victories in both doubles and singles play today; Angela Lorenzo earned her first career collegiate victories
- Matches will resume at the same score at 9 AM Saturday morning
