Houston Begins Fall Season at CCLR Collegiate Invitational

HOUSTON- The Cougars will officially kick off the 2014 fall campaign, as four members of the squad will head to Little Rock, Arkansas to compete in the CCLR Collegiate Invitational this weekend at the Country Club of Little Rock.
Defending American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year Despoina Vogasari leads the Cougars into their first fall tournament of the season as the 68th ranked player in the nation according to the ITA's preseason individual rankings released on Monday. The ranking is the highest any Cougar has been placed since Sarah Borwell finished the 2002 campaign ranked No. 24 in the country.
Joining Vogasari this weekend will be senior Elena Kordolaimi, sophomore Tina Rupert, and junior Maria Cardenas, as the squad officially begins its journey toward its second straight NCAA Tournament berth.
Houston will get the opportunity to compete against some of the nation's elite this weekend, as the Cougars take on individuals from five ranked ITA schools in No. 21 Oklahoma State, No. 28 Ole Miss, No. 59 Arkansas, No. 74 Kansas, and conference foe No. 41 Memphis.
Action from Little Rock will begin on Friday and end on Sunday.
