Tennis Plays Host In Cougar Fall Draw

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team will play host to seven different teams on the John E. Hoff Courts for the Cougar Fall Draw this weekend Oct. 5-7. Matches will begin on Friday at 8:00 a.m. in singles and at 1:30 p.m. for the doubles matches.
The courts will see action from New Mexico State, Southern Mississippi, Sam Houston, Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Lee college throughout the weekend.
The singles matches will be split up into seven different flights, Flights A-G, each starting at the quarterfinal round. Doubles will have three different flights, A-C, also starting at the quarterfinal round.
The lone senior for the Cougars, Leila Salek, will be in the Singles B flight, with Lucy Forward participating in the Singles Flight C and Lynley Wasson and Neila Starratt competing in the Flight D. Vicky Simpson will take a place in the Flight E and Jordan McCombs will represent Houston in the F Flight. Single Flight G will be a round robin with freshman Izabella Glinska competing against three others.
In the doubles action the duo of McCombs and Salek will take the Flight A spot while the tandems of Simpson and Forward and Starratt and Wasson hold two spots in the Flight C.
