Tennis Concludes Play at Pepsi Challenge

Lafayette, La. - Vicky Simpson and Loli Gomez bowed out in the semifinals of their respective flights as the University of Houston tennis team completed play Saturday at the Pepsi Challenge on the Louisiana-Lafayette campus.
After dropping the first set in her quarterfinal match, Simpson battled back with a 6-4 win to even the match. Simpson took control in the final set, registering a convincing 6-1 win. The England native would lose a 7-6, 6-1 decision in the semifinals.
Gomez couldn't get anything going in her semifinal match in the black singles flight, dropping a 6-1, 6-2 match.
D'Ondra McGee got off to a strong start in her quarterfinal match, taking a 6-1 victory in the first set. McGee couldn't keep the momentum, falling 6-1, 6-1
The Cougars conclude the fall season, playing host to the Houston Quad Tournament next weekend. The action gets underway Saturday at Hoff Courts.
