The Houston tennis team bounced back from a tough loss indoors to Furman University, as the Cougars took care of Georgia State in a 7-0 match on Sunday morning in Atlanta.
With the win the Cougars improve to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 when playing outdoors. They also found out how to bounce back from a disappointing loss and get back on the winning track.
"It is good to rebound after our team's performance on Friday," said Cougar head coach John Severance. "This time we came out with something to prove and won all three doubles and set the tone for the rest of the match."
Once again senior Biljana Dimovska led the way for Houston as she and partner junior Yolandi Terblanche won their doubles match 8-2 and Dimvoska went on to beat Georgia State's No. 1 player, Annamaria Forgacs, in a 7-6, 6-2 match.
Dimovska finishes the week with a 4-0 record and is currently 6-0 on the early 2005 season.
The play of the rest of the Cougars played well too as all three doubles teams won their matches 8-2, and the team continued that domination into singles play where all six matches were taken by Houston.
"In every match they were out to prove that they were better than Friday's performance," said Severance.
The Cougars return home for an eight match home stand that begins with LSU on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the John E. Hoff Tennis Courts on the main campus of the University of Houston.
