Cougar Tennis Falls to No. 28 Penn

In a tough battle on the home court, the University of Houston Cougar tennis team were swept by No. 28 Pennsylvania, 7-0, in a dual meet on Tuesday (March 9) afternoon at the John E. Hoff Courts on the UH campus.
Houston sophomore Miranda Foley fought hard with Penn senior Nikky Ptak, currently ranked No. 48 in singles play, before falling 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, at the No. 1 singles spot, then teamed with Biljana Dimovska in No. 1 doubles action, falling to Penn's Rachel Shweky and Shelah Cao, 6-8, in yet another tough match.
Although the Quakers took the doubles, the Cougars continued to battle and gave Penn a tough time in singles en route to its sweep.
After being down 1-6 in the opening set against Penn's Caroline Stanislawski at No. 2 singles, Dimovska came back to take the second set, 7-6, to force the third set, which Stanislawski claimed, 7-6.
In No. 3 singles, Houston sophomore Yolandi Terblanche came back to take the second set over Chao, 6-3, before falling in the third and final set, 0-6.
With the match loss, Houston's season record falls to 4-7 overall on the year. Next, the Cougars host Utah on March 13 at 11:00am.
