Houston Soccer Shuts Out Eastern Washington, 1-0

Junior midfielder Nikki Hawkins sailed a penalty kick into the past Eastern Washington goalie Tiera Como for the match's only score as the University of Houston women's soccer team went on to a 1-0 victory for their first win of the 2003 campaign on Sunday (Aug. 31) night in the Baylor Labor Day Classic in Waco, Texas.
Eastern out-shot the Cougars 10-7, but Houston goalkeeper Sarah Webster recorded a career-high five saves. Senior Nicole Aubuchon and sophomore Kelly Golden each had a game-high two shots on the night.
Houston returns to action this coming weekend at Robertson Stadium, first hosting the Baylor Bears on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7:00p.m., then SMU on Sunday afternoon at 1:00p.m.
