PREVIEW: Houston Hosts Texas Southern on Senior Day

HOUSTON — The University of Houston Soccer team closes non conference action when it hosts Texas Southern at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Carl Lewis International Complex.

The Cougars (3-1-3) will celebrate its 10 seniors following the match. Houston will recognize Molly Wissman, Morgan Donohue, Jocelyn Chinea, Ava Shannon, Danielle Shannon, Laney Gonzales, Adelhia Ghonda, Charlotte Richardson, Ella Morgan and Kate Borgmeier for their contributions to the program.

LAST TIME OUT
Behind a hat trick from junior Skylar Miller, Houston dominated Sam Houston, 5-0.

Miller led the squad with three goals while sophomores Bailey Cate and Madyson Bentil each added a goal for the Cougars.

Houston took 27 shots in the game while holding Sam Houston to five. The Bearkats did not put a shot on frame.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

The Cougars have allowed just five goals to non-conference opponents under Head Coach Ben Williams.
Four of Houston's opponents are featured in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 — Vanderbilt (2), West Virginia (T8), Baylor (17), TCU (22) while UCF and Memphis are receiving votes.
Houston returns 14 players from the 2025 season including three players that missed last season due to injuries.
Houston welcomes 15 newcomers including eight transfers and seven freshmen.
Fifth-years Ella Morgan and Morgan Donohue along with junior Casey Maddox were voted captains for the 2026 season. It is the second consecutive season Maddox has been voted a captain.
Junior Skylar Miller leads the Cougars with five goals on the season while sophomore Bailey Cate is second with four.
Houston goalkeepers have combined for four shutouts on the season.

ABOUT TEXAS SOUTHERN

Texas Southern is 1-5-1 this season with their only win coming against UTRGV in its season opener.
In its last match, Texas Southern fell 3-0 to SFA on Thursday.
Head Coach Denesha Adams is in her second season as the Tigers head coach with a 8-13-5 record in Houston.
Texas Southern goalkeepers have combined for 41 saves on the season.
Five different players have scored a goal for the Tigers.

HISTORY WITH TEXAS SOUTHERN

Houston is undefeated in the series with an 8-0 record.
The Cougars have allowed just one goal to the Tigers coming in the first meeting in Sept. 2004.
Houston has outscored Texas Southern 66-1 in the eight meetings.
