Houston Baseball Releases Big 12 Conference Schedule

HOUSTON – Houston Baseball and the Big 12 Conference announced the Cougars' 2027 league schedule on Thursday.

The slate features 30 games across 10 league series with five at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park. Houston will play West Virginia, Utah, Texas Tech, UCF and TCU at home while heading to Cincinnati, BYU, Baylor, Arizona State and Oklahoma State.

Houston's Big 12 schedule is the first under Head Coach Will Davis, the ninth skipper in program history. Davis ushers in a new era for Cougar Baseball featuring a new-look roster that includes 38 newcomers. The transfer class was ranked the top class in the Big 12 and #8 in the nation in WAR added by D1Baseball while 64Analytics tabbed the Cougar class as the 28^th best in the country and fourth best in the conference.

The Cougars open the schedule at home against 2026 College World Series team West Virginia, which Houston snagged the opening game from in last year's series in Morgantown, W. Va. The series runs March 19-21 in the Bayou City.

Houston then heads to long-time conference foe Cincinnati on March 25-27 to renew the series which dates back to 1958. The Cougars hold the lead against the Bearcats, 44-23, with this season bringing the total number of tilts between the two teams to 70.

Returning home, Davis' squad meets Utah in Space City (April 2-4). The Cougars have won all four games in the series history, sweeping the only three-game series between the two teams in 2025.

Houston follows Utah back to the Beehive State for a stop at BYU on April 8-10. The set of Cougars have met in two of the three years that they have shared conference membership in the Big 12 with this trip being the second to Provo, Utah.

The following weekend (April 16-18) sees a clash between in-state rivals as Texas Tech visits Schroeder Park. Houston won last year's series in Lubbock, Texas, with this year's three-game set bringing the number of meetings to 101, making the Red Raiders the eighth team Houston has met at least 100 times.

In another storied rivalry, Houston drives to Waco, Texas, for a series against Baylor on April 23-25. The series spans 168 games since 1951, making the Bears Houston's fourth most common opponent.

Another longtime conference foe follows with UCF, based in the theme park capital of the world, arriving in Space City for a three-game set on April 30-May 2. Houston leads the slate, 36-35, and the series will make the Knights the 13^th most common opponent in program history. This season's clash is the first since 2025, when the Cougars took the series in Orlando, Fla.

With the series dating back to 1967, Houston and Arizona State have a long history that's renewed again on May 7-9. The teams have met in each of the two years they've shared a conference with this being the Cougars' second trip to Tempe, Ariz., since 2025.

The penultimate weekend of Big 12 play sees in-state TCU travel south to renew the sixth most frequent series in Houston history on May 14-16. The Cougars have a chance to even the series, which currently stands at 54-57-2, with the three-game set to close Houston's home schedule.

Houston wraps up the regular season with a trip to Stillwater, Okla., to battle Oklahoma State. Another frequent opponent of Houston, the Cowboys have met the Cougars in two seasons since becoming league rivals with both having a game canceled due to weather.

The 2027 Big 12 Baseball Tournament presented by Allstate runs from May 25-29 in Surprise, Ariz., at Surprise Stadium, the spring training home of the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers.
