Pair of SEC transfers join the Cougars for the 2026 season
HOUSTON – University of Houston Soccer Head Coach Ben Williams announced the addition of transfers Skylar Miller and Bailey Cate to the 2026 roster on Wednesday.
Skylar Miller | Forward | Virginia Beach, Va. | Tennessee
Â
Miller, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., comes to Houston after two seasons at Tennessee where she appeared in 24 matches including all 19 matches last season. Miller helped the Lady Vols to a 7-0 start, reaching a No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history.
Â
Tennessee was a 3-seed in the NCAA Tournament, falling to reigning national champion North Carolina.
Â
The forward made three starts scoring one goal last season and earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Â
A four-year letterwinner at First Colonial High School, Miller earned first team all-region and all-state honors three times and was a Virginia Gatorade State Player of the Year nominee in 2022 and 2023.
"Skylar is a player we're extremely excited to bring into our program," Williams said. "She brings pace, technical quality and versatility in the attacking areas with the ability to create chances, stretch defenses and bring energy and intensity to the group every day. We're excited to have Skylar as part of our program at Houston and about the impact she'll have on and off the field."
Bailey Cate | Forward | Lubbock, Texas | Texas A&M
Â
Cate, a sophomore from Lubbock, Texas, arrives in Houston after spending her freshman season at Texas A&M. She played in 14 of the Aggies' 16 games last season logging 10 shots on the year.
Â
The forward was a four-year letter winner at Lubbock-Cooper High School and claimed all-state honors twice including being named the Hub City Preps Offensive Player of the Year in 2023. Cate was a three-time District 4-5A MVP, winning honors in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and was the District and Lonestar Varsity Newcomer of the Year in 2021.
Â
"Bailey is a fantastic addition to our program because she brings a dynamic attacking mentality, tremendous work rate and the ability to impact a match in the final third with creativity, skill and goal scoring ability," Williams said. "We're thrilled to welcome Bailey to Houston and believe she has tremendous upside ahead of her."
