Houston remains perfect, Chems Doha Zeghlouli clinches second-straight match
HOUSTON — The University of Houston Tennis team improves upon its perfect season with a 4-0 win over #29 BYU on Saturday afternoon at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
#47 Houston continues to close in on the best start in program history, chasing a 13-0 start in 1990. It's 2-0 start in Big 12 Conference play for the Cougars are most conference matches won in a single season since entering the league.
#82 Sophie Schouten and Chems Doha Zeghlouli cruised to a 6-1 on doubles court one.
The remaining two courts needed a tiebreaker, but it was #87 Elizaveta Morozova and Petja Drame that were first to the finish line with a 7-6(2) win to clinch the doubles point for the Cougars (11-0, 2-0 Big 12).
Despite falling behind early on court six, Schouten pulled it together to walk away with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Karina Mohamed. Drame wasn't far behind as she defeated Bergeson, 6-3, 6-4, on court five to secure Houston's third point of the afternoon.
Zeghlouli grinded out an opening set victory, 7-6(5) before handling Kendall Kovick, 6-2, to clinch the match for Houston for the second-straight game.
