Cougars look to secure tickets to NCAA Outdoor Championships beginning Wednesday
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston Track and Field program opens action at the 2025 NCAA West First Round, Wednesday through Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M.

The men's squad will compete on Wednesday and Friday while the women's team is scheduled to compete on Thursday and Saturday. The top 12 finishers in each event qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 11-14.

STARTING LINE NOTES
- The Cougars have 20 student-athletes on the men's side and nine on the women's side as they compete in 17 events.
- Senior Grant Levesque is the first Cougar to secure his ticket to Eugene in the men's decathlon. Levesque earned his berth after placing second with 7848 points at the Big 12 Championship earlier this month.
- The women's 4x100-meter relay of freshmen Carlyssia Cresser, Taylor Jackson, Norah Nwonumah and Matilde Ochoa earned their spot in the West Regional with a season best time of 44.82.
- On the women's side, freshman Invida Maurina (800-meter), junior Ali Mack (100-meter hurdles), senior Kaycee McCoy (100-meter hurdles), junior Zaeda Houff (hammer throw) and freshman Evina Panagiotou (pole vault) qualified in their respective events.
- Panagiotou returns to E.B. Cushing Stadium where she broke the women's pole vault school record with a mark of 4.26m at the 44 Farms Team Invitational in April.
- After winning the 110-meter hurdles Big 12 Conference title, senior Jamar Marshall Jr. will compete in the 110-meter hurdles alongside senior John Adesola, sophomore Jairius Burton and junior Anthony Trucks. Marshall Jr. holds the second fastest time in the nation and is receiving votes in the latest edition of The Bowerman Watch List.
- Along with the 110-meter hurdles, Adesola is set to also compete in the 100-meter dash.
- Coming off winning the 100-meter dash at the Big 12 Champion, sophomore Cayden Broadnax will compete in the 100, 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay.
- Freshman Germain Smith-Mata will compete in the 100-meter and is one of four freshmen in the West to qualify in the event. He has the fastest time among the four at 10.18.
- Senior Brice Chabot rounds out the qualifiers in the 100-meter and earned a spot in the 200-meter.
- Houston's 4x100-meter relay will feature junior Ryan Mulholland, Broadnax, Chabot and Smith-Mata.
- Senior Adam Mason will compete in the 800-meter run.
- Senior Trey East III is set to compete in the 400-meter and 4x400-meter relay.
- East III and freshmen Damarien Jacobs, Sahfi Reed and King Taylor are the four who will compete in the 4x400-meter relay.
- In the throwing events, Houston will be represented by senior Kevin Grubbs in the discus and Cordell Nwokeji in the shot put.
- Sophomore Antrea Mita, senior My'Kell Beck and junior Turey Stoudemire will compete in the high jump.
- Graduate Caleb Malbrough and senior Kevin Snyder will compete in the long jump and triple jump.
