Mita, Nwokeji, Osisike Earn Wins at Charlie Thomas Invitational

Cougars also record one second-place finish, one third-place finish on Friday
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Junior Antrea Mita, junior Cordell Nwokeji and sophomore Esther Osisike earned victories for the University of Houston Track & Field program on Friday at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.

The Cougars will resume action at 2 p.m. Saturday, beginning with the women's 60-meter and women's triple jump.

Osisike collected the first victory of the day with a mark of 19.84m in the women's weight throw. Senior Zaeda Houff placed third with a mark of 17.70m.

Nwokeji won the men's shot put with a personal best mark of 19.25m. Nwokeji moved up three spots to fourth on Houston's all-time list with this mark.

Mita earned his second victory of the season with a season-best mark of 2.18m to win the men's high jump.
Â
Freshman Dominic Harper ran a personal best time of 20.64 for second place in the men's 200-meter. Harper is now fourth on Houston's all-time list and is the first Cougar freshman to run under 20.70. The Garner, N.C., native is only one of two freshmen in the nation this season to run sub-21 in the event.
