rv/rv Baylor Defeats Houston on Wednesday

Cougars remain at home for a 2 p.m., Saturday game against #18/18 West Virginia
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program dropped its sixth-straight conference game against rv/rv Baylor, 92-47 inside Fertitta Center on Wednesday evening.
 
Houston (5-18, 1-11 Big 12) had three Cougars score in double figures with graduate guard Eylia Love's 13 points as well as 13 points and five steals from sophomore guard Kierra Merchant. Redshirt sophomore guard Gigi Cooke scored 11 points for her 12th game this season scoring 10 or more points.
 
Baylor (19-5, 9-2 Big 12) had four players post double-digit scoring performances with junior forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs leading the Bears with 19 points.
The first quarter was a battle between the Cougars and the Bears with all five Houston starters scoring to start the game. Baylor opened the game on a 7-0 run before Houston answered back going on a 6-0 run of its own. The Cougars dominated in the paint by scoring 10 of their 13 first-frame points at the rim.
 
Baylor put its foot on the gas in the second quarter by outscoring Houston 24-9. The Cougars put up a fight with trips to the charity stripe and a pair of layups, but three consecutive Baylor 3-pointers in the final two minutes gave the Bears a 16-point advantage.
 
The second half started with an exchange of points, but the Bears were able to continue their dominating scoring performance as they went up by 31 points to close out the quarter.
 
Houston's struggles continued in the fourth as Baylor continued to knockdown its shots to defeat the Cougars for the fourth-straight time as Big 12 foes.
