Coll Grand Slam Not Enough

Second baseman hits 12th homer, Cougars’ third grand slam
HOUSTON – The Houston baseball team erased a four-run deficit in the sixth inning on a grand slam by second baseman Harold Coll but the Cougars dropped game two of the three-game series to UCF 6-4 on Saturday at Schroeder Park.
For the second consecutive night, UCF (29-15, 11-12 Big 12) scored first, pushing a run across on a fielder's choice ground out in the second inning. The Knights scored a run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to increase their lead to 4-0.
Designated hitter Kenneth Jimenez doubled with two outs in the sixth inning to give Houston (23-24, 6-17 Big 12) its first hit of the game. A pair of walks behind Jimenez loaded the bases with two outs for Coll who launched Houston's third grand slam of the year to tie the game.
The game remained tied through the seventh, but UCF scored two runs in the eighth to take a 6-4 lead for the final time.

Houston and UCF conclude the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. from Schroder Park. The finale will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
