Houston set to play nine NCAA Regional teams, host CWS runner up Texas A&M
HOUSTON – The Houston Baseball team revealed its 2025 schedule on Friday in coordination with the Big 12 Conference schedule release which features the Cougars playing nine NCAA Regional teams and hosting College World Series Runner-Up Texas A&M.

After being the league's newcomer in 2024, the Cougars welcome three new programs in 2025 with the addition of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. The Cougars will face all three newcomers in 2025 to close out the conference slate.

Houston will begin the season hosting Minnesota on Opening Weekend Feb. 14-16 inside Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park. The pair meet for the first time since playing at Minnesota in 2023.

The Cougars will not play a home series again until March 7-9 when they host Grambling for a three-game set. Grambling made the College Station Regional in 2024.

Prior to that series, the Cougars will play five straight games on the road with a midweek game at Texas on Feb. 18 followed by a Feb. 19 game against Oregon State in Round Rock, Texas, before going on to Berkeley, Calif., to face Cal for a three-game set.

Houston's first eight games against Power conference teams (including Oregon State who has won three national titles – most recently in 2018 – and is Independent in 2025) is the longest stretch to open a season since 1976 when the Cougars opened the season with nine straight games against SEC and Big 8 teams.

Houston and Sam Houston begin the Don Sanders Cup on Feb. 25 at Schroeder Park. The two meet in Huntsville, Texas, on March 12 and conclude the series on March 18 in Sugar Land, Texas. It will be the earliest conclusion of the official Don Sanders Cup in series history and earliest final meeting since 1989 when the two met just once.

The Cougars then head back on the road for a three-game series at UT Arlington Feb. 28-March 2.

Houston hosts UTRGV on March 4 for a midweek game before it starts the Silver Glove Series at Rice March 5. The Cougars will host the Owls on April 8 and conclude the Series on April 15 back at Reckling Park.

The Grambling series will begin back-to-back weekends of home series' for Houston in which the Cougars will host Texas Tech to open Big 12 play March 14-16.

Houston's nine remaining Big 12 series are at UCF (March 21-23), vs. TCU (March 28-30), at Baylor (April 4-6), vs. West Virginia (April 11-13), at Oklahoma State (April 18-20), and at Kansas State (April 25-27) before concluding with the three new schools with Utah (May 2-4), at Arizona State (May 9-11) and Senior Weekend vs. Arizona (May 15-17).

The Cougars' final six games of the season are against teams that have a combined nine College World Series titles – Arizona State's (five) and Arizona (four).

Houston will host additional midweek games inside Schroeder Park against Stephen F. Austin on March 25, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 2, Lamar on April 22 and College World Series Runner-Up Texas A&M on May 6.

The Cougars will go on the road for a midweek game against McNeese (April 29) along with their midweek games at Texas, vs. Oregon State in Round Rock, at Sam Houston and in Sugar Land against the Bearkats, and at Reckling Park against Rice.

Houston will face two teams that have won national championships in the last 12 years with a conference series against 2012 National Champion Arizona and a neutral site midweek against Oregon State (2018).

The Cougars' nine 2024 Regional appearance opponents include Texas, Oregon State, Grambling, UCF, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Arizona. Oregon State, West Virginia, Kansas State and West Virginia made Super Regional appearances, while A&M finished runner-up at the 2024 College World Series.

The Big 12 Conference Championships at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, will take place May 21-24 and will expand the format to 12 teams.
