Cougars head west for a pair of matches in Arizona
TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of Houston Volleyball team is back on the road, heading west to Arizona for a pair of conference matches.
The Cougars start on Wednesday with a 9 p.m. CT match against #13 Arizona, the team's fifth meeting of the season against a ranked opponent and fourth against the Top 15. Houston then heads to Tucson, Ariz., for an 8 p.m. CT, Friday meeting with Arizona.Â
Wednesday's match, originally scheduled to be broadcast on ESPNU, has been upgraded to ESPN2.Â

- Graduate libero Kate Georgiades ranks second in the Big 12 Conference and third in the state of Texas with 4.53 digs per set. She's also tallied four straight games with 20-or-more digs and 19 consecutive matches with double-digit digs.
- Graduate setter Annie Cooke is moving up multiple program career record lists. She currently sits in third in service aces (129) and in assists (3,516) all-time rankings. She's also played in the ninth most matches (127) and 10th most sets (469) in program history.Â
- Georgiades is also making moves on Houston record lists. She currently ranks fourth all-time in digs (2,070) and eighth in aces (103).Â
- Freshman Lily Barron leads the Big 12 and ranks 14th in the country with 0.56 service aces per set.Â
- Among active players, Georgiades ranks third in Division I and first in the state of Texas and in the Big 12 in career digs with 2,297.Â
- Houston has three wins this season against teams that makes last year's NCAA Tournament, six still remaining on the schedule, including Wednesday's tilt against Arizona State.
- Wednesday's match marks the fourth time in the last two years Houston has been broadcast on linear television.Â
- Houston faces one of the toughest schedules in the country with nine of its opponents ranked in the AVCA Top 25.Â
