Houston and Texas Southern meet for the first time since 2008-09 season
COMMERCE, Texas– Coming off its first road win, the University of Houston Women's Basketball program returns to Fertitta Center when it meets Texas Southern at 11 a.m., Tuesday for Education Day.
The Cougars look to continue their winning ways following an 86-53 road victory on Friday against Texas A&M-Commerce in Commerce, Texas. Graduate guard N'Yah Boyd recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

THE GAME
- Tuesday's game marks the 15th all-time meeting between both teams and first meeting since the 2008-09 season.
- This marks the first meeting between Head Coaches Ronald Hughey and Vernette Skeete.
- In the second NET rankings, the Cougars moved up 15 spots to No. 85.
- Tigers are the third SWAC opponent on the schedule this season, joining Grambling State and Florida A&M.

- Behind a double-double from graduate guard N'Yah Boyd, the University of Houston Women's Basketball program defeated Texas A&M Commerce, 86-53, for its first road win of the season at The Field House on Friday evening.
- The Cougars hauled in a season-high 63 rebounds, including 32 offensive boards against the Lions.
- Boyd surpassed 1,000 career points, sinking in a 3-pointer at the 5:03 minute mark in the first quarter.
- Boyd registered a career-high 10 rebounds en route to her first career double-double.
- This was Houston's first road test of the season following a six-game homestand.
- Five Cougars posted double-digit points for the second time this season (last vs. Air Force, Nov. 10, 2023).
- Graduate forward Bria Patterson (932) is 68 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with the Cougars.
- Both Britney Onyeje (182) and Laila Blair (155) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
- A season after being the shortest team in the league and relying on its full court press to make teams uncomfortable, the Cougars are the 11th tallest team in the league this year an average height of 5-11.
- Ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility saw a face lift to the second story; the floor Houston Basketball has its locker rooms, team rooms and cafeteria.
