Houston standout among 16 players on catcher of year watch list
HOUSTON – University of Houston redshirt sophomore catcher Anthony Tulimero is among 16 semifinalists for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced Thursday.

Tulimero leads The American with 22 runners caught stealing and ranks fourth in the league for hits (65). The backstop paces the Cougars in average (.327) and on-base percentage (.396) while swiping 10 bases in 15 attempts.
Earlier this season, Tulimero produced a hit in 29 of 33 games (Feb. 20-April 16). The Temecula, Calif., native has logged 17 multi-hit games including a team-best six three hit contests. Tulimero has started 50 games behind the plate with the Cougars going 32-18 in those games.

Finalists will be announced June 7. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita, Kansas, and the winner will be announced on June 29.
