Four-year letterwinner named volunteer assistant coach
HOUSTON – Former University of Houston standout Tyler Bielamowicz has joined the Cougar Baseball program as volunteer assistant coach, head coach Todd Whitting announced Monday.
"Tyler is very deserving of this opportunity and I am very excited to make him part of our staff," Whitting said. "He was a tremendous player for the Coogs and a key component to multiple NCAA Tournament teams. His dedication and loyalty to UH Baseball has been incredible and I am pleased he will be starting his coaching career at his alma mater."
Bielamowicz, a five-year letterwinner at Houston, helped the Cougars to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2017-18). The Cypress native racked up several accolades during his career including being named 2021 Second-Team All-American Athletic Conference.
In 2021, Bielamowicz paced Houston in average (.301), on-base percentage (.395) and OPS (.853). His 15-game on-base streak was the longest for any Cougar on the season. He finished second on the club in runs (27) and third in RBIs (24).
The former Cy-Ranch standout made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2017, appearing in 34 games including 23 starts. A season later, Bielamowicz was named to the AAC Championship All-Tournament Team thanks to three home runs and seven RBIs.
As a junior in 2019, he appeared in 48 games including 42 starts. The starts came at five different positions including three starts on the mound. During the shortened 2020 season, Bielamowicz started all 15 games, registering eight stolen bases while hitting .274.
