This year, the MLB Draft is being held in conjunction with the league's all-star game. The draft will take place at the 5,000-seat Denver Convention Center. The MLB All-Star game will be held Tuesday evening from the Colorado Rockies' Coors Field.
Houston starting pitcher Robert Gasser was tabbed the draft's No. 54 prospect in Baseball America's latest top-500 prospects. The First-Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree posted a 2.63 ERA and fanned 105 batters in 85.2 innings during 2021.
The southpaw tossed 5.0-plus innings in 13 of 14 starts and limited opponents to a .215 average. Gasser finished second in the AAC in strikeouts while fanning seven-plus batters eight times including a career-high 12 against Wichita State on April 1.

Houston first baseman Ryan Hernandez checks in at No. 439 among Baseball America's top-500 prospects. After being named Texas Collegiate League Player of the Year last summer, the Boston, Massachusetts, native led Houston in hits (52), RBIs (37) and home runs (11).
Houston's 12 top-10 round selections and 19 top-15 round picks over the last decade are tied for the most among current AAC members. A total of 155 Cougars have been drafted all-time including 26 top-five round selections.
