Houston dropped four straight at UCF to close the regular season over the weekend … Cougar pitching posted a 3.66 ERA and limited the Knights to a .227 average on the weekend … UCF right fielder Jordan Rathbone struck a three-run home run, erasing a one-run deficit while lifting the Knights to a 3-1 victory over Houston in the series opener on Thursday afternoon … UCF held Houston in check offensively, spoiling a strong start from Ben Sears as the Knights outlasted Houston 2-1 in the second of two contests Thursday … shortstop Ian McMillan produced the Cougars' first hit, coming with one away in the sixth and drove in Houston's lone run with a two-out, RBI-double into left in the eighth … UCF struck for five runs in the first inning and its pitching staff kept Houston's bats at bay as the Knights blanked the Cougars, 6-0 in the third game of the series Friday night … UCF pushed across two runs in the fifth inning, the only blemish against Houston starter Matt Lazzaro, as the Knights outlasted the Cougars, 2-1 in the regular-season finale Saturday afternoon … the Cougars enter the American Baseball Championship as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2-seed Tulane at 3 p.m. CT Tuesday from Clearwater, Florida.
