Women's basketball primed for Sunday matchup against Louisiana

SCOUTING THE RAGIN' CAJUNS. Louisiana is off to a hot start holding a 6-1 record. They are on a four-game win streak while also going 3-0 on the road. The Ragin' Cajuns are the reigning 2020-21 Sun Belt Champions boasting a 16-8 overall record and a 13-1 conference mark. Louisiana has shut opponents down so far this season, only allowing 54.0 points per contest. The team's scoring defense ranks second in the Sun Belt and 35th in the nation so far this year.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. The Cougars are currently 3-0 when playing at home. On Thursday, the Cougars beat Jacksonville State and earlier this season recorded wins against New Mexico and Howard in their season opener.
BEST FOR BLAIR. Against No. 6 Baylor, Laila Blair posted a career-high 28 points in the final game of the Cancun Challenge. Earlier in the season, the guard had matched her career-high 19 points before her 28-point game against the Bears. In the tournament, Blair averaged 13.7 points per game and earned Mayan Division All-Tournament Team.
TAKE THE BALL. Houston is currently ranked No. 29 in the nation in steals with 95 this season. As well, the Cougars boast a No. 29 rank for steals per game (11.9) and No. 47 in turnovers forced (20.75). Dymond Gladney recorded a career-high and a season-high six steals against Alabama while the team record a season high nine blocks against Jacksonville State.
PATTERSON POINTS. In the game against Jacksonville State, Bria Patterson tied her career-high of 17 points. The last time that Patterson scored 17 points was against SMU in 2020. The junior went 4-7 from the 3-point line while also recording four rebounds.

Houston Athletics recently announced its new e-commerce and in-venue retail merchandise partnership with Follett. Follett will provide UH fans of all ages with a large variety of authentic UH gear and products at Houston Women's Basketball games or on-line throughout the year.
