Cougars Return Home, Celebrate 4 Seniors

HOUSTON – The University of Houston volleyball team sits alone in second place of the American Athletic Conference standings and gets a rematch with East Carolina in the Fertitta Center on Friday at 1 p.m. CT with a rerun of a win over Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

East Carolina topped Houston the first meeting of 2021 after the Cougars opened the match with a 2-0 set lead. Houston toppled Cincinnati in Ohio earlier in that same trip it faced ECU. The Cougars hit .243 against the Bearcats in the 4-set win back on Oct. 22.

Houston will honor four seniors on Sunday before the match against Cincinnati, Torie Frederick, Peanut Childers, Kendall Haywood and Bridget Wallenberger.
Sophomore Kate Georgiades was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.
The Cougars' 21 wins so far in 2021 is the most since 2000 (21 wins).
One win against ECU or Cincinnati will mark the most wins since 1999, a weekend sweep will help the Cougars post the most wins in a season since 1997.
With a win on Friday, Houston will have its third different 5-match winning streak.
Junior Rachel Tullos has the third-most solo blocks in school history (106).
Houston is in second in the conference with a 11-3 AAC record.
