Garcia sacrifice fly vaults Team Red to 4-3 win
HOUSTON – Team Red's Santiago Garcia delivered a walk-off sacrifice fly, plating Skyler Trevino in the seventh inning to lift the squad to a 4-3 victory over Team White in the Red-White Series opener Thursday night from Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Schroeder Park.

Garcia lifted a looper into shallow left field, sending a speedy Trevino racing home. Shortstop Ian McMillan's throw was just off-line as Trevino beat the tag from catcher Dylan Post to give Team Red the 1-0 lead in the three-game series.
Cameron Nickens, a freshman from Magnolia, Texas, put Team Red on the board with a solo home run in the second. Ryan Hernandez delivered an RBI-double in the sixth, trimming Team Red's deficit to one before Garcia knotted things up on a sacrifice fly.

Closer Derrick Cherry stranded two Team White runners after entering with two in scoring position and one out in the top half of the seventh.

Team White starter Nathan Medrano and Team Red starter Ben Sears each tossed five innings. Medrano, a junior righty from Gilroy, California, permitted one run alongside four strikeouts.

Cameron Prayer tossed one scoreless frame for Team Red. Team White started the scoring courtesy of consecutive singles from Brandon Uhse and Post. McMillan laced a double down the left field line to put Team White ahead 3-0 in the first.

The teams return to action Friday at 6:30 p.m. The series will conclude Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
