MLB Pipeline Recognizes Cougar Trio

Houston well represented in professional ranks
HOUSTON – Former Houston standouts Patrick Weigel, Connor Wong and Aaron Fletcher have been recognized as Top 30 prospects in their respective Major League organizations according to MLB Pipeline which revealed its updated lists Monday.
Weigel was tabbed Atlanta's No. 16 overall prospect while Wong, a member of Boston's organization, checked in at No. 18 and Seattle's Fletcher was recognized at No. 21.
Weigel was selected by the Braves in the seventh round of the 2015 MLB Draft. The right-hander went 6-2 with a 2.73 ERA in 28 appearances, including 18 starts, in split time between Double-A and Triple-A in 2019.
Wong was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft. The catcher batted .349 across 40 games in Double-A during 2019 and has slammed 48 home runs in three professional seasons.
Fletcher was taken in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals. He quickly ascended to Double-A before being traded to Seattle. Across four levels in 2019, the southpaw went 5-4 with a 2.09 ERA in 41 relief appearances.
