
Three Cougars Named Valley League All-Stars

Bayless, Lockhart Jr. represented North; Brown represented South, participated in Home Run Derby on Sunday
HOUSTON -- Three members of the University of Houston Baseball program were named Valley Baseball League All-Stars.
Cougars Tristen Bayless and Lael Lockhart Jr., who both play for the Woodstock River Bandits, represented the North Division, while Ron Brown, a member of the Staunton Braves, was named to the South Division roster and participated in the VBL Home Run Derby on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
Due to inclement weather, the All-Star Game was halted going to the bottom of the fourth inning with the South leading 1-0.
Bayless faced the minimum and recorded two strikeouts in the bottom of the third.
Brown also logged a scoreless frame, retiring the side with one strikeout in the top of the fourth.
VBL SUMMER NOTES
• Bayless, who is tied for second in the VBL in strikeouts (34), has appeared in five games, making four starts. He has a 1-2 record and 2.49 ERA across 21.1 innings.
• Brown has one save in seven appearances out of the bullpen. He sports a 2.03 ERA with 25 strikeouts across 17.2 innings. Hitting as well, the native of Katy, Texas, is tied for 10th in the league in home runs (3).
• Lockhart Jr. is batting .385, going 20-for-52 with six doubles, one home run, 11 walks, 13 RBI, 17 runs scored and one stolen base.
