Cougars embark on a four-match road trip
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Volleyball takes its best start to conference play in seven years on the road, as the Cougars travel to New Orleans and Philadelphia for contests at Tulane and Temple.
Houston is coming of a pair of dramatic, five-set, comeback victories over SMU and Memphis to open conference play 2-0 for the first time since 2013. With those pair of wins, the Cougars have now won eight of their last 13 contests.
In those matchups, senior outside hitter Megan Duncan led the Cougars with 4.30 kills per set, notching a pair of double-doubles in the process. As a result of her performances, Duncan was named The American Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- After a pair of dramatic, five-set comeback victories over SMU and Memphis, Houston is off to its best conference start since 2013. With at least one win this weekend, the Cougars would be 3-1 to start conference play for the first time since that same 2013 season. A 4-0 start has not happened since 2005.
- With their three American Player of the Week accolades, the Cougars are the only school in the conference to have more than one player win a Player of the Week honor. This is the first time Houston has had three different players earn a conference Player of the Week honor since 2006.
- With a record of 4-3 in five-set matches this season, Houston is no stranger when it comes to going the distance. In fact, the Cougars' last four matches have all gone to the fifth stanza, in which Houston has come out on top in three of those contests.
- As one of the best liberos to come through the Houston program, senior Katie Karbo continues to the climb the charts in the record book, already ranking third in career digs (2,092) and second in career digs per set (5.02). Karbo currently sits 27th in the nation with 5.11 digs per set and second with 373 total digs.
