
Ponce de Leon Set for MLB Postseason

Ponce de Leon on St. Louis Cardinals 25-man roster for NLDS
HOUSTON -- Former University of Houston Baseball standout Daniel Ponce de Leon makes his MLB Postseason debut, as he was named to the St. Louis Cardinals' 25-man roster for the National League Division Series on Thursday morning.
The begin of best-of-five series begins Thursday at 4 p.m. CT on TBS from SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Game two is slated for Friday at 3:30 p.m. with games three and four in St. Louis on Sunday. If necessary, game four will take place on Monday with a deciding game five back in Atlanta on Wednesday.

In the regular season, Ponce de Leon posted a 1-2 record with a 3.70 ERA across 13 games with eight starts. He struck out 52 batters in 48.2 innings.
Also spending stints with the AAA-affiliate in 2019, Ponce de Leon was 8-4 with a 2.88 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 84.1 total innings with the Memphis Redbirds before being recalled by the Cardinals on Sept. 1.
Ponce de Leon was drafted out of Houston after the 2013 season. In his lone season with the Cougars, the native of La Mirada, Calif., finished 7-5 in the weekend rotation, including a 5-1 record in Conference USA play, with a 4.47 ERA.
