Cougars will host 27 games, take part in inaugural Round Rock Classic

HOUSTON -- Highlighted by 27 games at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park, the University of Houston Baseball program and Head Coach Todd Whitting announced the Cougars' 56-game schedule for 2020 on Wednesday morning.
"Once again, we've put together a schedule that will be challenging for our team and provide excitement for our fans," Whitting said. "Early on, we will face some tough competition, both at home and on the road, that we believe will set us up for American Athletic Conference play.
"This schedule will test our guys, but we look forward to the task ahead in 2020."
NOTES ON SCHEDULE
1 -- Houston joins Stanford, Tennessee and Texas Tech in the inaugural Round Rock Classic
2 -- Cougars set to play two games at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas: Sam Houston State, Rice
4 -- Houston will host four American Athletic Conference opponents at home: Wichita State, USF, Memphis, UCF
6 -- Schedule features six home midweek games: UTRGV, Baylor, Rice, Texas, A&M-Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State
7 -- Houston will host seven weekend series
10 -- Head Coach Todd Whitting enters his 10th season at the helm of the Cougars
15 -- Houston will host Opening Weekend games for the 15th straight year
17 -- The Cougars are scheduled to play 17 games vs. nine different 2019 NCAA Regional teams
24 -- The Cougars are 24-3 under Todd Whitting (last nine seasons) during Opening Weekend
27 -- Houston will host 27 home games at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park
29 -- The Cougars are scheduled to play 29 games in the Houston area
56 -- Houston will play 56 regular-season games
For the 15th straight season, Houston will host games on opening weekend, welcoming Youngstown State in a three-game series across Feb. 14-16. The Cougars are 24-3 in Opening Weekend under Whitting.
Houston opens up its road slate with the inaugural Round Rock Classic on Feb. 21-23. Taking place at Dell Diamond, home of the Astros' Triple-A affiliate Round Rock Express, the Cougars will face Stanford, Tennessee and Texas Tech in a round-robin format.
Mid-week action gets underway Feb. 25-26, as the Cougars host UT Rio Grande Valley and Baylor on consecutive days before continuing with a three-game series with Texas State over Feb. 28-March 1.
After five games at home, the Cougars embark on a six-game road swing featuring five games out of state with visits to Arizona (March 6-8) and UNLV (March 10-11).
The 2020 season sees the continuation of the Silver Glove Series with Rice and the Don Sanders Cup with Sam Houston State. Each series will feature a home game, road game and neutral-site matchup at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, in Sugar Land, Texas.

Other non-conference action features a home series with DBU (March 13-15) and midweek visits from Texas (April 7) and A&M-Corpus Christi (April 22) while making treks to Texas A&M (March 17), a two-day trip to Louisiana (April 14-15) and a regular-season, doubleheader finale at Northwestern State (May 15).
In American Athletic Conference play, the Cougars will host Wichita State (March 20-22), USF (March 27-29), Memphis (April 17-19) and UCF (May 8-10) while making trips to Tulane (April 3-5), ECU (April 9-11), Cincinnati (April 24-26) and UConn (May 1-3).
For the seventh straight year, the American Athletic Conference Championship will be held at Spectrum Field, Spring Training home of the Philadelphia Phillies, in Clearwater, Fla., across May 19-23.SEASON TICKET RENEWALS
