Lockhart Doubles to Cap Walk Off Win

HOUSTON -- Houston Baseball used an 11th inning, RBI-double by sophomore Lael Lockhart Jr. to cap a 4-3, walkoff win over Columbia Saturday at Schroeder Park.
With the win, Houston notched its 10th victory of the year to improve to 10-8, while Columbia fell to 3-13 with the loss.
HOUSTON HITS
- Saturday's 4-3 walkoff win was the fourth walkoff win for Houston this season.
- Houston played its fifth extra-inning game of 2018.
- The Cougars have played eight 1-run games (5-4; third straight).

Lockhart led the offense with two hits and the game-winning RBI, while Grayson Padgett had a pair of hits and an RBI. Coldiron plated his 18th RBI of the year on a sac fly and Hollis and Triolo scored twice.

Houston starter Aaron Fletcher went 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in his fifth start of 2018.
Senior reliever Joey Pulido tossed the next 2.1 innings, surrendering just two hits with four strikeouts before handing the ball over to sophomore reliever Carter Henry, who went 1.2 innings, allowing just one run on two hits with two walks and a punchout.
Sophomore Brayson Hurdsman picked up his first win of the year (1-3) after shutting down Columbia in 1.1 innings of work, allowing just one hit with two strikeouts.
KEY INNINGS
4th | Houston jumped out to an early 1-0 lead following an RBI-single by Grayson Padgett in the fourth inning, scoring Jared Triolo -- who reached on a two-out single.
6th | Columbia takes advantage of a few Houston defensive miscues and two hits to plate a pair of runs for the 2-1 lead in the sixth.
8th | Houston tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth when Connor Hollis scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a one-out walk.
10th | Columbia took a 3-2 lead in the 10th on a bases-loaded walk.
Houston responded once again to tie the game up at 3-3 following a Cooper Coldiron RBI-sac fly, scoring Jared Triolo -- after a walk and double steal to make it a 3-3 game.
11th | The Cougars found a way to break open the game for the walkoff win when Hollis reached on a one-out single in the 11th. He moved to second on a walk by Davis and came around to score on an RBI-double off the center field wall in straight away center for the game-winner by Lockhart.
ON DECK
Houston will wrap up the weekend with a 1 p.m. matchup Sunday vs. Columbia at Schroeder Park. Following Sunday's game, the Cougars will remain home for five games next week, beginning with two midweek games vs. Lamar (Tuesday -- 6:30 pm) and Prairie View A&M (Wednesday -- 6:30 pm).
