Cougars tabbed second in preseason poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior Joe Davis and junior Jared Triolo were named unanimous selections to the American Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team, as the University of Houston was tabbed second in the league's preseason poll announced Thursday.
Voted on by The American head coaches, Triolo was tabbed as the league's preseason favorite at third base with Davis taking the top spot at the designated hitter position. In the poll, Houston received 55 votes with two first-place nods.
The Cougars enter 2019 having won five titles in The American (four regular season, one conference tournament) over the last five seasons.
In 2018, Houston finished 38-25 overall, its sixth season with at least 36 wins, and 16-8 in league play to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, the program's 22nd all-time NCAA Regional appearance.
JOE DAVIS | DESIGNATED HITTER
• Named ABCA/Rawlings Central All-Region First Team and The American Second Team in 2018
• Appeared and started in all 60 games between designated hitter and first base
• Finished with a .318/.375/.554 slash
• Led The American in RBI (62)
• Led Houston and finished fifth in conference in home runs (13) and sixth in doubles (18)
• Is Houston's all-time career home run (35) and RBI (166) leader
• Won the National Baseball Congress Home Run Derby over summer
JARED TRIOLO | THIRD BASE
• Started all 63 games at third base
• Finished with a .344/.434/.457 slash
• Led team, ranking third in the American Athletic Conference, with a .344 average.
• Finished second in The American with 85 hits to go along with 11 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 28 RBI and 45 runs scored
• Led Houston with 24 multi-hit games and was second with 17 stolen bases
• Named to the All-Series teams for the Silver Glove Series (Houston vs. Rice) and Don Sanders Cup (Houston vs. Sam Houston State)
• Named a Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star for Bourne Braves over summer
PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking will be offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
