Houston Heads to Florida for Weekend Test

Cougars set to face ranked opponents in Sunshine State
HOUSTON – The University of Houston soccer team will return to action Oct. 18 and Oct. 21 when it faces No. 20/17 USF and No. 24 UCF in Florida. First kick is slated for 6 p.m. at USF and 12 p.m. at UCF, all times are central.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
The Cougars will return to Houston for its regular-season finale against in-state rival SMU on Oct. 26.
CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

- Houston is coming off a bye week, and is currently 7-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in The American.
- The Cougars are currently fourth in the American Athletic Conference Standings with 10 points.
- Desiree Bowen leads the Cougars in scoring with 12 points this season off of six goals. She is followed by Mia Brascia with 11 points off of two goals and seven assists.
- Samantha Cude, Rachel Estopare, and Kate Godfrey have all seen time in goal for Houston, racking up 80 saves and posting four shutouts.
- 12 different Cougars have scored this season for Houston.
- Bowen is tied for sixth this season in goals in The American with six.
- Brascia is tied for first in the conference in assist with seven this season.
- As a team, Houston is second in The American in shots (249) and corner kicks (85), and third in saves with 80.
- USF is 10-2-0 overall and 5-1-0 in The American.
- USF rides a four-game winning streak into Thursday's meeting, defeating No. 15/18 Memphis in a 2-0 decision and Tulsa in a 2-1 decision last weekend.
- Evelyne Viens leads USF with 33 points this season off of 15 goals and three assists.
- Sydney Martinez is the primary Bulls goalkeeper with 38 saves and a 9-2-0 record this season.
- USF is in its 12th season under Head Coach Denise Schilte-Brown.
- USF leads the all-time series 4-9-0.
- UCF is 8-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in The American.
- The Knights are riding a three-game winning streak, coming off of a 2-0 win over No. 15/18 Memphis and a 3-1 win over Tulsa last weekend.
