HOUSTON - The University of Houston baseball team will hold a two-day winter camp, Dec. 10-11 at Cougar Field.
The camp will include three sessions and is available for kids, ages 6-18. Campers will be broken up into two groups, the junior group (ages 6-12) and the senior group (ages 13-18). The two days of camp will feature pitching and catching sessions, position play and hitting sessions.
At the pitching and catching sessions, participants will learn skills in a concentrated, skill-specific environment. College coaches and professional scouts will provide campers with expert instruction and evaluation. Campers will be coached through drills on the field and live bullpens.
During position play, each camper will receive high-level instruction in the position of his choice including infield and outfield play. Important fundamentals including throwing mechanics, footwork and other skills related to each position will be practiced.
The hitting session is designed to teach a variety of drills to develop proper swinging mechanics. Stance, stride, rotation and balance are just a few key topics that will be discussed and practiced. Video evaluation and strength and conditioning for hitters will also be taught.
