Former Catcher Chris Wallace Earns Minor League Award

HOUSTON - Former University of Houston catcher Chris Wallace was named to the 2010 Appalachian League All-Star team as the designated hitter with the Greenville Astros and an Astros Organizational All-Star at catcher.
Wallace led the team with 53 hits and was second on the team in batting average (.310) and on base percentage (.390). He also had eight home runs, six doubles and three triples.
The Cypress, Texas, native was selected in the 16th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros. Following the draft, he went to play for Greenville but has since been moved up to play for Class A Tri-City ValleyCats. He was one of four catchers selected in the first 20 rounds of the draft by the Astros.
Wallace spent four seasons behind the plate for Houston posting a career .291 batting average. He was selected to the All Conference USA Second Team in 2009 and led the Cougars with 10 home runs as a senior.
