HOUSTON - University of Houston centerfielder Zak Presley recently was named to the 2007 Brookshire's McCormick Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game for his impressive effort during the first half of the summer season.
A native of Keller, Presley is batting .231 with six runs scored and a double for the Colleyville LoneStars and ranks among the league leaders with five stolen bases. He started the season with the McKinney Marshals but was traded early in the year when McKinney enjoyed a glut of outfielders and to allow him to play closer to home.
He joins other All-Stars on the Tris Speaker Division roster and will face players from the Rogers Hornsby Division. The All-Star Game will be held Monday, July 9 at Lupton Stadium on the TCU campus.
Presley forced his way into the Cougar starting lineup early during the 2007 season and made himself difficult to take out. He started all but six games in center field, compiling a .306 batting average - third best on the team - with two home runs, 28 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.
He was named to the 2007 Silver Glove All-Series Team and was a member of the Conference USA All-Freshmen Tea.
He is one of six Cougars competing in the TCL this summer, joining catchers Chris Wallace (Brazos Valley Bombers) and Austin Goolsby (Coppell Copperheads), outfielder Chris Joseph (Duncanville Deputies) and pitchers Chris Wright (McKinney Marshals) and Jimmy Raviele (Duncanville Deputies).
