- Santiago Garcia joined the Cougars' baseball staff in 2023 as the Assistant Director of Player Development after playing for the Cougars in 2022 as a graduate transfer from Alabama State
- 2024 marked Garcia's second season on staff and third with the baseball program
- Assists with everyday duties including hitting and pitching
- Helped program reach new heights in 2023 by winning all eight conference series for the first time in school history
- Delivered walk-off hit to send Houston to the semifinals of 2022 American Championship
- Spent 2017-2021 seasons at Alabama State
- Four-year Dean’s list member (2018-2021)
- Two-time All-SWAC First Team selection (2019, 2021)
- Graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (2021)
