Lott Scores in Hammer Throw, Five Cougars Advance to Finals on Day One of Big 12 Championship

Ty Lott secures five points on the first day of the Big 12 Track & Field Championship
TUCSON, Ariz. – Redshirt sophomore Ty Lott scored in the men's hammer throw and five individuals qualified for finals after the first day of action at the 2026 Big 12 Conference Track & Field Championship at Drachman Stadium.

Lott scored five points with a fourth place finish in the men's hammer throw. The redshirt sophomore recorded a mark of 64.45m on his fourth attempt, giving Houston its best finish in the event since joining the Big 12.

RUNNING EVENT PRELIMS
Freshman Zac Miller earned a spot in the men's 1500-meter final after posting a time of 3:47.22 (3:47.212), tying Cincinnati's Seth Elking.

Houston earned three spots in the men's 200-meter final. Senior Dakari Charlton secured the top spot with a wind-aided time of 20.36, followed by junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile at 20.42. Freshman Sean Aigboboh qualified with a time of 20.47.

Freshman William King IV clocked a personal best of 51.10 seconds in the men's 400-meter hurdles to reach the final.

DECATHLON AND HEPTATHLON DAY 1 STANDINGS
Following the first day of competition, sophomore Owen Levesque is in sixth place with 3,933 points, while graduate Grant Levesque sits in 11th place with 3,847 points.Â

Owen Levesque recorded personal bests in the long jump (7.00m), shot put (12.78m), high jump (2.03m) and the 400m (50.32). Grant Levesque ran a personal best time of 48.88 in the 400m.

Freshman Jaiya Daniels ranks 20th overall with 3,053 points, and senior Ali Mack is right behind in 21st place with 3,031 points. Daniels achieved a personal best of 1.58m in the high jump.

The Cougars resume competition on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. CT with the decathlon, followed by the heptathlon at 2 p.m. CT, field events at 6 p.m. CT and running events at 7:30 p.m. CT.
