Five Cougars Score on Day Two of Big 12 Championship

Houston earns points in decathlon, men’s long jump, women’s shot put and women’s pole vault
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston Track & Field team had five Cougars score in four events on Friday at the 2026 Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Drachman Stadium.Â

The men currently sit in ninth place with 13 points, and the women are 10th overall with 11.5 points.

ON THE PODIUM
Sophomore Sydney Freeman took home second in the women's shot put with a personal best of 15.87m. Freeman rose from eighth to sixth on Houston's all-time performance list with her throw.Â

In the women's pole vault, sophomore Evina Panagiotou achieved her best overall finish at the Big 12 Championship by tying for fifth place with Mason Meinershagen from Kansas, both clearing 4.17m.Â

Freshman Bradley Lowman finished in sixth place in the men's long jump with a personal best of 7.48m.

Two Cougars scored in the men's decathlon as graduate Grant Levesque finished fifth overall with 7,513 points while sophomore Owen Levesque set a personal best of 7,374 points for eighth place. Owen Levesque is now tied for 10th in program history.

FINALS BOUND
Houston secured six spots in three event finals during Friday's preliminary round action.

H-Town Speed City earned four spots in the men's 100-meter final. Senior Louie Hinchliffe posted the top overall time with a season-best 10.01, while senior Dakari Charlton finished third in 10.26.Â

Graduate Ryan Mulholland won his heat with a time of 10.41 (10.402) to automatically qualify. Freshman Sean Aigboboh was the last Cougar to qualify with a time of 10.41 (10.403).

Senior Anthony Trucks qualified in the men's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.79. Graduate Miracle Thompson secured a spot in the women's 100-meter hurdles final with a time of 13.31.

HEPTATHLON FINAL STANDINGS
Senior Ali Mack finished 19th overall with a total of 5,056 points. Mack achieved a personal best of 34.50m in the javelin.Â

Freshman Jaiya Daniels finished 22nd overall with a personal best score of 4,596 points. Daniels also achieved a personal best in the javelin with her throw of 18.37m.
