Two School Records and Irish National Record Set at Cameron Burrell Invitational

Cougars conclude regular season with an Irish National record in the men’s 200m, school records in the men’s hammer throw and shot put
HOUSTON – Two University of Houston Track & Field records and an Irish National Record were broken at the Cameron Burrell Invitational held at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Thursday.

IRISH NATIONAL RECORD
Freshman Sean Aigboboh set an Irish national record to win the men's 200-meter. Aigboboh crossed the finish line with a wind-legal time of 20.27 to take first place. His time is also the sixth-fastest in program history. The freshman currently ranks No. 2 in the NCAA this season but has the fastest wind-legal time.

SCHOOL RECORDS
Redshirt sophomore Ty Lott won the men's hammer throw with a school record of 66.89m (219 ft, 5 in). Lott achieved this on his second attempt, surpassing Rick Fenton's previous record of 65.69m set on May 23, 2013.Â

Junior Cordell Nwokeji set the second school record of the day in the men's shot put. Nwokeji won the event with a mark of 19.77m (64 ft, 10.5 in), surpassing Mark Baughman's record of 19.57m set in 19.79.

FIELD EVENTS
Sophomore Cleo Agyepong won the women's shot put with a mark of 16.54m while sophomore Sydney Freeman finished third with a mark of 14.91m.

Junior Antrea Mita cleared a season best mark of 2.17m to win the men's high jump while senior Turey Stoudemire finished second with a clearance of 2.06m.

Sophomore Athena Stith won the women's long jump as she posted a mark of 5.71m while sophomore Stephanie Ume-Ezeoke took second with a mark of 5.55m.

Freshmen Simeon Cannon and Bradley Lowman placed second and third in the men's long jump. Cannon finished with a mark of 7.19m while Lowman recorded 7.06m.

Senior Zaeda Houff placed second in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 54.76m.

Sophomore Amelia Pantojas won the women's javelin with a throw of 33.57m while freshman Jaiya Daniels finished third at 16.42m.

Graduate Grant Levesque took third in the men's javelin with a mark of 46.71m.

Freshman Saphina Stanley placed second in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.30m and Ume-Ezeoke finished third at 11.68m.

Junior Mouhameth Fall earned third in the men's triple jump as he posted a mark of 15.15m.

RUNNING EVENTS
The women's 4x100-meter relay A team, consisting of junior Ruth Agadama, sophomore Taylor Jackson, senior Matilde Ochoa and freshman Alexa Smothers, finished first with a time of 44.91. Houston's B team, made up of freshman Shieana Hall, freshman Skye Fields, sophomore Journie Franklin and Stanley, placed second at 46.28.

Graduate Ryan Mulholland, Charlton, Aigboboh and senior Louie Hinchliffe won the men's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 38.80.

Senior Kaycee McCoy won the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.45 while graduate Miracle Thompson finished second in 13.67.

Senior Anthony Trucks placed third in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46.

Running into a -2.8 headwind, Hinchliffe won the men's 100-meter with a time of 10.40. Aigboboh finished second in 10.55, followed by Charlton in third with a time of 10.56.

Freshman Zyon Alston secured the win in the women's 100-meter as she crossed the finish line in 11.86, followed by Agadama in second at 11.92. Jackson secured the sweep with a third place finish time of 11.94.

The Cougars swept the women's 400-meter as freshman Jada Stanford recorded the victory with a personal best time of 53.74. Sophomore Carlysia Cresser also ran a personal best time of 54.24 for second place and freshman Mallory McLemore ran a personal best 56.24 to take third.

Sophomore King Taylor won the men's 400-meter with a time of 47.59 and sophomore Elijah Hernandez finished second in 48.06.

Sophomore Shawn Freeman won the men's 800-meter with a personal best time of 1:50.65.

Freshman William King IV set a personal best time of 51.29 to place third in the men's 400-meter hurdles.

Freshman Kyra Hayden finished third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.40.

Houston collected another sweep this time in the women's 200-meter as freshman Zyon Alston won with a time of 23.15, followed by sophomore Norah Nwonumah in 23.23 and Smothers in third at 23.30.

Senior Dakari Charlton took second place in the men's 200-meter with a wind-aided time of 20.55 while junior Jaelyn Reeves-Lile finished third in 20.58.
