Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Day One at Gary Ota Memorial Invite

FRESNO, Calif. – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team finished day one of the Gary Ota Memorial Invite at Fresno State Aquatics Center in second place trailing San Diego State by 57.5 points.

Houston won four events with junior Alexia Duncan claiming first in the 200-yard IM (1:59.83) and 100-yard backstroke (53.59).

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior Elizabeth Jimenez, junior Sienna Bruner, senior Tierney Howell and fifth-year Manita Sathianchokwisan finished first with a time of 1:32.31.

Senior diver Michelle McLeod ended the day leading the pack scoring 285.85 on the 1-meter.

Two Cougars set Top-10 program records in the 50-yard freestyle. Jimenez' personal best time of 22.78 and Sathianchokwisan's time of 22.90 placed them in sixth and eighth, respectively.

100-yard backstroke: Alexia Duncan, 53.59

100-yard breaststroke: Evelyn Entrekin, 1:00.08, 2nd place

800- yard freestyle relay: Sienna Bruner, Evelyn Entrekin, Elizabeth Jimenez, Alexia Duncan, 7:20.25, 2nd place

500-yard freestyle: Kaeli White, 5:57.21, 3rd place

200-yard IM: Evelyn Entrekin, 2:00.43, 3rd place

100-yard butterfly: Alexia Duncan, 53.91, 3rd place

200-yard freestyle: Sienna Bruner, 1:49.32, 3rd place

100-yard backstroke: Elizabeth Jimenez, 54.66, 3rd place
