Cougars in search of first Big 12 Championship win against Buffaloes at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program opens the postseason in the First Round of the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship against Colorado at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday inside T-Mobile Center.

THE GAME
- Houston and Colorado meet for the fourth time in series history on Wednesday.
- Houston is in search of its first Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship win after falling in the first round at
- the 2024 edition to Texas Tech, 60-74 (March 7, 2024).
- The Buffaloes lead the all-time series, 2-1
- Colorado won the lone regular season meeting, 83-60 in Boulder, Colo. (Feb. 15, 2025).
- Houston is 0-2 at a neutral site this season, meanwhile Colorado is 1-0 with a win against Nevada, 75-59 (Nov. 12, 2024).
- The Cougars picked up their lone victory, 79-78, against the Buffaloes on Dec. 4, 1987.
- Laila Blair moved to second on Houston Women's Basketball career scoring list as the Cougars dropped their final regular season game, 73-61, on Senior Day
- against UCF inside Fertitta Center on Sunday.
- In her final home game as a Cougar, Blair surpassed Sharion Higgins' 1,957 points to become the second all-time scorer in program history. The Houston
- native scored 18 points against UCF and now has 1,960 career points.
- The Cougars were led by Eylia Love's 20 points. Gigi Cooke scored 11 points.
- The Cougars return six players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Avalon Miller,
- Maliyah Johnson, Peyton McFarland and 2024 All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention, Laila Blair.
- On Feb. 15 against Colorado, Blair surpassed Porsche Landry's 121 starts for most games started
- in program history (Feb. 15, 2025). She now has 126 career starts.
- On Jan. 22, Blair became Houston's record holder for 3-pointers made. She now has 253 career 3-pointers
- and is also No. 1 for most minutes played in program history at 4, 321 minutes.
- On March 2, Blair moved up to second on Houston's all-time scoring list with 1,960 career points.
- Avalon Miller (Achilles), Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) are out for the season.
- Guard Leilani Augmon suffered a broken nose against Baylor (Jan. 17). The guard had surgery on
- Jan. 27 and made her return to the court on Feb. 22 against Arizona.
